Wow, Thanksgiving was fun, crazy and I ate too much!!! Nothing was perfect but I let go of that long ago. With eight grandkids under the age of 8, everything was a mess; we had spills and meltdowns as we overate without thinking.
I did not get to talk with everyone and the kids were loud. I could have been stressed that the meal was late or that the kids got dirty, but I have learned from my daughter to refocus on the blessings and joys.
I enjoyed:
- The sweet smiling faces of youth.
- The funny saying and antics that spring forth from their minds and bodies.
- Catching up on news with cousins, aunts, and my adult kids.
- The sweet deep, exhausted sleep after a day full of activity.
- Looking for what I loved about each person.
- Sharing gratitude and appreciation.
You may be alone or missing loved ones. You may be grateful to have avoided fights around the dinner table. In every case, there are many hidden blessings. Look for them, be thankful, and express appreciation for the wonderful meal and all those blessings.
You are alive today!
